About Our Guides
Mario Gómez Mayorga is the Founder and Director of Con Ciencia Indígena (with Indigenous Science), an organization dedicated to transmitting practical ways to apply indigenous knowledge in modern everyday life. He shares his 30-year relationship with the most preserved indigenous groups of Mexico with Toltec roots, the Huichols, Mazatecs, Nahuas and Mayas.
Rocío López Ruíz has been an active coordinator for the past 20 years in Con Ciencia Indigena´s human development workshops, teaching self-healing and shamanic techniques that deepen your relationship with nature and the spirit of life.
Each spring they conduct an annual Pilgrimage and Vision Quest to Mexican natural power places and pre-Hispanic cities to make deep connections and healings though ceremonies, rituals and indigenous practices exploring altered states of consciousness, sometimes with sacred power plants.
They were filmed by The History Channel for a featured segment of the series “Strange Rituals” in the documentary “Last Rites” showing a Toltec live burial initiation ceremony, “The Burial of the Warrior”, one of the workshops they lead.
Mario and Rocío are members of Conservacion Humana A.C. and were part of the team that was instrumental in the re-opening of an almost lost millenary pilgrimage route, a 680 kilometers walk to the most sacred lands of the Huichol nation.
Mario is author of the book Here and Now that delves into subjects as lucidity, awareness, attention focus, and consciousness.
Rocío hosts a TV nutrition program and as a nutritional adviser she helps people awaken their physical consciousness as a means to unchain a spiritual awakening.
