"When you look at this life of action—the growing tree, the bird on the wing, the flowing river, the movement of the clouds, of lightning, of machines, the action of the waves upon the shore—then you see, do you not, that life itself is action, endless action that has no beginning and no end. It is something that is everlastingly in movement, and it is the universe, God, bliss, reality."

INDIA TRAVEL TIPS

Passport
  • You must have a valid passport that is valid for 6 months after your departure date.
  • Bring a photocopy of your passport with you in case the original one gets lost.
  • It is your personal responsibility to have a valid passport and visa prior to embarking on the tour.
  • Visas

A Tourist Visa is given to those visiting India for tourism or other non-business related purposes and may be valid for 6 months to 10 years. A ten (10) year visa is available only to US citizens under a bilateral arrangement. Irrespective of the duration of validity of visa, on each visit the maximum period of stay in India is limited to 6 months (180 days). Please note the visa is valid beginning on the day it is issued. So a 6 Month visa issued on January 1 would be valid until June 30. Be sure to get a visa for longer than you think you'll need as it is difficult, sometimes impossible, to extend one once you are in India.

      *   You must apply for a tourist visa in order to enter India and it can take 4 to 5 weeks to receive your visa.

    Weather
The South Indian state of Tamil Nadu has a tropical climate with little difference between the summer and winter temperatures. April and May are the hottest months of the year and October to December is the time of the monsoons. November is the month when the winter season sets in and continues till February, which is the best time to visit. During our January trip there should be no rain at all with maximum temperatures of 30C or 86F — a very pleasant climate.

    Electricity
230-240 volts AC, 50Hz. Some areas have a DC supply. Plugs used are of the round two- and three-pin type.
    Local India Time
